So more companies are now entering the UK budget or low-cost health club segment after JJB announced their new mifit brand. The brand launches in Cardiff later this year. I can exclusively reveal that memberships will be offered at £9.95 per month.
Barry Aspinall, Managing Director comments:
‘We’ve been training staff ready for our launch. This is something I’ve been considering for five or six years now. We’re not saying we’re going to take over the world, but this could be part of a revolution in the industry’.
The company has identified six initial sites for mifit, which it will roll-out, once the concept testing has been completed at Cardiff. One clear advantage this new brand has over UK rivals such as FitSpace is access to surplus space within JJB stores. This creates advantages in both potential speed of roll-out and lower operating expenses. The new clubs will span approximately 12,000 square feet (1,115 square metres) and are being equipped by Technogym.
