Not content with buying Esporta, it transpires that secret talks have been taking place between Esporta and Whitbread about the potential sale of David Lloyd. Creating a dominant racquets chain was always on the cards, but it appears that the two sides cannot agree on a fair price. Stockbroker Numis estimates that David Lloyd is worth up to £940 million (that’s a cool £16 million per club). What’s the probability of David Lloyd being under different ownership by the end of 2007?
