About
I founded Oxygen Consulting in 2004 having worked in the “active leisure” industry since 1982. My early leisure career was spent as a senior manager for one of the UK’s largest operators of children’s summer sports camps.
The global health and fitness industry
For more than 20 years, I have been strongly connected to the health and fitness industry. During this time, I have held senior roles with both large and small health and fitness club groups. Since 2005, I have been involved with Wave Leisure Trust which operates six leisure centres in Southern England. I became Chairman of the Trust in 2010.
I have also worked on the ‘supply’ side of the industry and so possess a deep understanding into this exciting industry.
The consultancy and research assignments that I now undertake are increasingly international. Recently, I completed a consultancy project for a Russian client who required insight into the emerging low-cost gym segment. During 2011, I published the European Health Club Industry Web and Social Media Report which included research across ten European countries. I also regulatory speak at health related conferences in Europe and the United States.
When not undertaking strategic consultants, I spend my time writing articles for a broad range of publications, research and publish forward-looking reports.
Always learning
I have an insatiable appetite for knowledge and so aim to return to University every ten years. I have an MBA from Kingston Business School in the UK, a Masters degree in Marketing from the University of Greenwich and a Sports Studies and Psychology degree from the University of Kent (UK). The point of accumulating these academic qualifications is to ensure my work is obsessively rigorous.
